Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 24, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how ExifClean (https://exifclean.cabokit.com), operated by Cabokit, handles information when you use our free browser-based EXIF / metadata stripping tool. ExifClean is designed so that your image files are processed locally on your device.

1. Summary

  • Images you select are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to ExifClean servers.
  • We do not store, view, or sell the contents of your image files.
  • Hosting or analytics providers may collect limited technical data about site visits (not your file contents).
  • Optional analytics (Google Analytics 4) load only if you choose Accept all on the cookie banner.

2. Local processing

When you inspect or strip metadata, the file is read and processed entirely in your web browser with Canvas and related APIs on your device. ExifClean does not upload, transmit, store, or retain your image file contents on our servers as part of these features.

Because processing is local, result quality and performance depend on your browser and hardware. Clear your downloads and temporary browser data yourself if you need to remove output files from your device.

3. Information we may collect about site visits

Separately from image processing, operating a website may involve limited technical data, for example:

  • IP address, approximate location derived from IP, and timestamps
  • Browser type, device type, and operating system
  • Pages visited, referring URL, and basic performance logs

Such data may be processed by our hosting or edge provider (for example Cloudflare) for security, reliability, and traffic analysis. If you consent to analytics, Google Analytics 4 may collect similar technical visit data. Analytics tools do not receive your image file contents from the ExifClean workflow.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

We use localStorage to remember your cookie preference under the key exifclean-cookie-consent. Values:

  • necessary — essential preference only; analytics scripts are not loaded.
  • all — you accepted optional analytics (GA4, when configured).

Hosting or edge providers may also use cookies or similar technologies for security and delivery. You can clear site data or control cookies in your browser settings. Choosing Necessary only (or closing the banner) does not enable analytics.

5. Legal bases and international users

If you are in a region with data-protection laws such as the GDPR, we process technical visit data as needed to operate and secure the website (legitimate interests) and, where required, based on your consent for non-essential analytics. Because image tools run locally, we do not process your image contents as a hosted file-upload service.

6. Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal information. Technical visit data may be processed by service providers who help us host, secure, or analyze the website, under appropriate arrangements. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the service.

7. Data retention

We do not retain your image files on ExifClean servers. Technical logs and analytics data, if any, are retained only as long as reasonably needed for security, operations, and analysis, or as required by law. Your cookie preference remains in your browser until you clear site storage.

8. Children

ExifClean is not directed at children under 16 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Your choices

You may stop using the service at any time. You can delete downloaded files from your device and clear browser storage (including exifclean-cookie-consent) to reset the cookie banner. For questions about visit analytics or this policy, contact us using the details below.

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use of ExifClean after changes means you accept the updated policy.
